Meet Crystal McDonough

Crystal J. McDonough, 4th generation homesteader, is an attorney and founder of McDonough Law Group, a full-service law firm, originally based in Colorado and Wyoming. Now with an increasingly national presence, Crystal and her team provide legal representation to companies of all sizes that rely on McDonough Law Group to guide them through business cycle phases including formation, growth, and sales. Her business law services include basic corporate formation, legal document preparation, contract drafting and review, as well as negotiation and litigation.

Prior to attending law school, Crystal was a small business owner and her experience of being both a business owner and business attorney bring a unique perspective to her legal practice at McDonough Law. Crystal understands firsthand the changes and challenges that businesses can encounter.

Crystal spends her spare time with her husband, three children, and their two rescue dogs. She is a Colorado native and grew up in the Grand Lake area. She enjoys spending time in the mountains, camping, and traveling cross-country with her family. Her and her husband run “Big Yard Farm,” a little 6 ½ acre homestead that is just big enough to have a large garden, a small hay pasture, and a few animals (horses, goats, sheep, alpacas, chickens, and dogs). Her grandparents ranched in Nebraska and were a huge influence on Crystal; it was from them she learned the business of homesteading, farming and ranching. It’s the love of the land—growing her own food, seeing chicks hatch, raising lambs for meat, pulling weeds in the garden, canning a years’ worth of tomato sauce – that she hopes to instill in her children. She welcomes working with fellow homesteaders in providing them with legal services where needed.
