Douglas V. Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in real estate and natural resources law to the McDonough Law Group, with a keen focus on title and transactional matters within the oil, gas, and mineral rights fields. His work also encompasses litigation and dispute resolution, particularly regarding agreement interpretations and title disputes.
Doug’s academic achievements include an A.B. degree from Kenyon College, followed by service in the U.S. Navy. After his miliary service, he pursued his law degree at the University of Denver. His career path led him from practicing natural resource law in Denver for over a decade to a pivotal role in Alaska. As Senior Counsel for Atlantic Richfield Company, he was instrumental in legal matters for ARCO Alaska’s exploration and major oil fields operations. Following ARCO’s integration into BP, Doug made his way back to Colorado. A respected figure within the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, Doug has served as both a Trustee and Program Chair, significantly contributing to the legal community’s understanding of mineral law.
Though now on “inactive” status with the Alaska Bar, Doug maintains active admissions in Colorado and the U.S. District Courts for both Colorado and Alaska. His presence at McDonough Law Group signifies a commitment to delivering comprehensive legal guidance in natural resources law, embodying the firm’s dedication and support for clients navigating the complexities of oil, gas, and mineral rights.
