D. Scott Slawson

 Scott Slawson is a Denver business attorney with two decades of experience representing and finding solutions for corporations of all sizes. At McDonough Law, Scott’s practice focuses on Colorado, Wyoming and California business law and business litigation. He brings a special expertise in insurance law to the firm with years of experience in insurance analysis and resolution of the insurance aspects of cases. Additionally, he provides businesses with tailored legal services including transactional work in areas involving construction, oil and gas, employment law, risk transfer, risk mitigation, and contracts.

An accomplished litigator with years of experience in multi-party complex commercial litigation, class actions, and construction defect law, Scott joined McDonough Law Group in part to offer highly competitive rates for clients in the Colorado market. Prior to joining McDonough Law Group, he was a partner in the Colorado office of a boutique firm with a national client base that included many Fortune 1000 companies. Over the years, he has represented national tract home developers, commercial builders, and custom home builders in a variety of capacities. Scott works proactively with his business clients from the formation of their businesses forward, handling their contract, employment, and insurance needs. As personal counsel for his business clients, Scott also handles all aspects of their commercial disputes including trials, mediation, and arbitration. Additionally, he provides trust and estate planning services for his business and individual clients.

Scott is originally from Orange County, California, and he has lived across the country. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego and his law degree from Tulane University Law School, where he graduated cum laude. He is licensed in Colorado, Wyoming and California. He has served as a faculty member at the Front Range Community Colleges in Fort Collins teaching business law classes. Scott’s free time is spent with his wife and two children, and he enjoys traveling, playing golf, and supporting a few too many sports teams.
